Climb in the driver's seat or just come along for the ride in a sporty multi passenger "side by side" ATV for a morning of nature and knobby tires. This trail excursion begins at the front door of the Copper River Princess Cruises Wilderness Lodge and takes you approximately 15 miles through the forests and valleys of the Copper River Basin. Stop along the way to watch wildlife and the signs they have left behind. The view of Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Chugach Mountains is stunning from the top of the cliffs at the "Devil's Elbow." Your naturalist guide will take you to an overlook to watch nesting raptors from above and to the bottom of the Klutina River Canyon.

This tour takes place on the world famous Tazlina and Copper Rivers. There will be stops along the way that will allow for a light snack break and photo opportunities. Take in the mountainous surroundings and look for bald eagles and other wildlife in the surrounding area. Step foot into the Wrangell St. Elias National Park and float by established fish wheels surrounded by the view of the major peaks of the volcanic Wrangell Mountains. Your professional guide will share stories, explain the history of the area that gives you some insight toward the geological past that shaped the vast Copper River Basin. Your tour will end right at a fish wheel camp so you can get an up-close view of the vitally important piece of equipment used by the locals.

This tour is a wonderful introduction to sea kayaking. Start your kayaking trip right from the dock in Valdez Harbor and paddle along a small chain of nearby islands well known for their nesting birds and resident harbor seals. Sea lions, sea otters, pink, chum and silver salmon also frequent the surrounding area so be on the lookout! Your guide will share information about the wildlife and the natural history of Valdez.

Climb in the driver's seat or just come along for the ride in a sporty multi-passenger "side by side" ATV for an exciting afternoon of four wheeled adventure and hiking in boreal forest. Stop along the way to watch wildlife and the signs they leave behind. Your naturalist guide will take you on a trail to the bottom of the Klutina River Canyon, traveling over a moraine, the remnants of the glacier that once covered the entire river basin. Travel to the "Devil's Elbow" named in 1898 by the men who travelled the area in search of gold. On this 20 mile trip, you will see the remains of a colossal landslide and spectacular views of Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Spring trips will bring an abundance of wildflowers and fall trips the colors of autumn.

Your adventure starts with a beautiful 14-mile backcountry gravel road drive along the rim of the Klutina River Canyon. The route offers great views of the river below and huge vistas of the surrounding country. Your guide will explain the natural history of the area, and its gold rush history. This is an easy and fast river with some intermittent and splashy class III rapids. This is ideal for first-timers as well as experienced rafters. Just hold on and ride along in an oar boat as your experienced guide takes you on an adventure you're sure not to forget!

Enjoy a half-day of fishing for famous Alaska salmon. This is world-class fishing for King and/or red salmon in the pristine rivers of the Copper Valley. Float the scenic tributaries of the famous Copper River and fish from the riverbanks under the watchful eye of professional fishing guides. Journey through Prince William Sound and come face-to-face with the Columbia Glacier-one of the world's fastest-moving glaciers and the last tidewater glacier in North America. Your adventure begins on a scenic drive through Thompson Pass, once used by Alaska's Native Ahtna people and later by Klondike gold rush miners. You'll continue on through beautiful miles of green forested hillsides to the town of Valdez where you'll embark on your Columbia Glacier cruise. In addition to the amazing ice in Columbia Bay, you'll see wildlife that call the sound home and have the opportunity to learn about the mining, oil shipping, earthquake, and fishing history of the area.

The adventure begins as soon as you board an Alaskan-built vessel directly from your ship in the mouth of Disenchantment Bay. Relax in the warm, comfortable cabin, surrounded by large windows, as your knowledgeable crew and captain orient you to the vessel and to the tour area.

Your driver-guide recounts the history of Juneau's gold rush as you depart downtown en route to monumental Mendenhall Glacier. This meandering river of compressed blue ice ranks as the largest glacier accessible by road in southeast Alaska. It runs a half-mile wide, hundreds of feet deep and is fed by the 1,500-square-mile Juneau Icefield. The U.S. Forest Service staff offers a wealth of information on glaciers during your 1.25-hour visit and the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center features exhibits, interactive videos and a panoramic view of the glacier. Don't forget your camera, as the center offers the perfect vantage point for photos of this world-famous sight. Explore the numerous self-guided walking trails to experience the special beauty of Tongass National Forest and allows ever-changing glimpses of the glacier.

Upon arrival your experienced, friendly guide will hand out life jackets and rain gear before teaching you paddling techniques. Then you will board the two-person kayaks, with either a new friend or traveling companion, for your thrilling adventure.

Your trip begins with a scenic, narrated motorcoach ride to the beautiful Mendenhall Lake. There, you'll be treated to an excellent view of the glacier - a half-mile wide and over one hundred feet high at the face.

Transfer from the pier to the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery where you'll embark on a tour of the facility, watch salmon swim upstream in the man-made fish ladder and learn more about salmon lifecycle and their role in Alaska history and cuisine.. Guests can experience the thrill of catching salmon without boarding a small boat. Perfect for families, fish from a picturesque spot with dock and shoreline access with the help of knowledgeable staff. Salmon are abundant in the waters, but varieties are seasonal. King salmon are available in May and June, keta salmon in June and July, and pink salmon and silver salmon in August through September. Not only is this a one-of-a-kind whale watching experience, but you'll be aboard a permitted research vessel and participate in various hand's-on science activities while a naturalist explains the habits and habitats of the creatures you may encounter.
